Water Quality Testing in Poultney, VT

Water Quality Testing in Poultney, VT

You cannot pick the right water filter without knowing what is in the water. Poultney, VT Whole House Water Filtration starts most whole house water filtration jobs in Poultney, VT with water quality testing.

On site we test for:

• Free and total chlorine, which tells us whether chloramine is present
• Hardness in grains per gallon
• Iron and manganese
• pH and total dissolved solids

We also read your utility's Consumer Confidence Report, which lists regulated contaminants such as lead, nitrates and, increasingly, PFAS results. For contaminants that need lab equipment, including PFAS, bacteria and arsenic, we recommend sending a sample to a certified laboratory. Field kits are not accurate enough for those.

The results shape the system. High hardness means a filter alone will not stop scale, and a combination filter and softener may make more sense. High iron needs a different stage than chlorine. Low pH can corrode copper and shorten fixture life.

We explain what each number means and what it does not mean. A test is a snapshot, so if something changes, such as taste or staining, testing again is worth it.
